Nobody Could Do It!
Ram Island Ledge Lighthouse — Once the federal government declares a lighthouse excess, it is goes through a long process. It is offered to any other federal or state agency. Then it is offered to qualified non-profits. If all that fails, the lighthouse goes out to auction. Anybody qualified individual can bid on it and keep it private for themselves if they want.
The government couldn’t do it, State of Maine can’t do it and the non-profits couldn’t do it either. So, now it is time for the people to do it via social network. Let’s see if they can help preserve and operate a real working Maine Lighthouse, get in at the ground flow and “be” the ground swell to make it happen. We will need a lot of support – we need 10’s of thousand, 100’s of thousand to buy, in order to clean up, fix and repair, insure and operate a light house. We hope for everyone to one a piece of a lighthouse.
