Q. Can I just donate?
A. Yes.  if you do not want to be a member you can select donate at the bottom of the donate/buy tab.

Q. What about maintenance, taxes and ongoing costs?
A. Members pay $49 once.  That is it.  Our model is based upon a large number of small donations.  Over 3-5 years we hope to have up to 250,000 members world wide looking out from the lighthouse.  We anticipate putting funds into a long term maintenance or “trust” fund for these type of expenses.  Also, funds will be raised through special virtual events as well as real local events.

Q. How many rooms?
A. We think there are 5 made up of utility, galley, storage and sleeping quarters.  But we are unsure until we complete the inside inspection.  We do anticipate them to be small and cozy.

Q. How many bedrooms and beds?
A. One bedroom, no beds.  It comes unfurnished.

Q. How many blocks were used?
A.  There are more than 700 big blocks about 2x3x4 and weighing two tons.

Q. What are the dimensions of the lighthouse?
A. Diameter: 28ft at the base and 24 ft at the top of the block portion. Height: It is 72 ft to the block top and 77 ft to the light; overall height is 90 ft.

Q. How far is it out there?
A. It is a mile offshore.  Nearest city is Cape Elizabeth, Maine USA

Q. If you fail to win the bid, what happens to our money?
A. The money sits “on account” and will not be transferred until the bidding ends.  Within 2 weeks, we will refund almost all of your money except for ~$10 per unit to carry out this massive effort.  The refund will come either in the form of a check or a refund on your charge card.

Even if we lose, we will still send you an electronic version of the Keeper Membership Deed(s) in the name you provided.  You will also receive a electronic copy of the Ram Island Ledge Lighthouse Bill of Rights.  Except we won’t own the lighthouse so this will be a rare memento and maybe a collector item.
